Adult Language Intensive
The 2025 adult Iñupiaq Language Intensive was held September 28-October 3 in Siqnazuaq (Nome), Alaska. Below are images from the 2025 Intensive. The 2026 Intensive dates and location are TBD. Please subscribe to be notified of the next Intensive.
The 2025 intensive focused on fluent speakers and learners with an existing foundation in the language, such as a beginner language class. You can use our Contact form if you have any questions.
Since 2017, Iḷisaqativut has held six 1-2 week long Iñupiaq language intensives (and one weekend workshop), where adult language learners spend their time learning Iñupiaq, moving beyond words and gaining speaking ability. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Iḷisaqativut Intensive was not held in 2020 or 2021, but it saw a return in 2022. We are providing our curriculum here from 2017 & 2019 free of charge, and you are welcome to use it for your own learning programs. These curricula are licensed under Creative Commons; commercial reproduction or sale is strictly prohibited.
Iḷisaqativut 2019
Iḷḷitavut means ‘that which we learned’ and contains our full language curriculum for our 2019 Language Intensive held in Qikiqtaġruk.

Iḷisaqativut 2017
As it was our first year of Iḷisaqativut, we do not have a full curriculum to share from that year, but we do have a final report from 2017 that covers much of what we did at Iḷisaqativut Utqiaġviŋmi. You can use this as a template for language programs in your own community.
